EARLY CHILDHOOD THEATRE PROGRAM - age 5-6
Sing, Dance, Act, SHINE! Learn all about the stage! The elementary program exposes students to
many aspects of the theatrical performing arts and is a wonderful experience and outlet for all children.
Self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and creativity are all developed as students explore the
wonders of the STAGE!!
•Introduction to Theatre - age 5-6 Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm - Putnam Studio
Little ones will love this creative, fun, and engaging class! Children will explore the imaginative world of theatre through storytelling, movement, puppetry, music, signing, and creative making. Children build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations.
YOUTH THEATRE PROGRAM - age 6-10
Sing, Dance, Act, SHINE! Learn all about the stage! The youth program exposes students to
many aspects of the theatrical performing arts and is a wonderful experience and outlet for all children. These classes are designed to develop children’s confidence, self-expression, focus and social skills as well as inspiring creativity through dramatic play, imaginative theatre games, storytelling, dance and song.
• Musical Theatre 1/2 - age 6 - 8 Wed 4:00-5:00pm - Putnam Studio
• Musical Theatre 2/3 - age 8 -10 Wed 5:00-6:00pm - Putnam Studio
• Kids Musical Theatre - age 7-12 Saturdays 10:00-11:00am - Danielson Studio​

SING! DANCE! ACT! CREATE! Children will explore the basics of stage direction, acting, ensemble singing, movement, stage presence, character development, improvisation, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment. Children build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations. Students will also explore puppetry, costume design, and storytelling. This is a wonderful program for all children to let their creative voice shine.
JUNIOR THEATRE PROGRAM - age 10-13
For the emerging actor in all of us. These classes begins to introduce students to the philosophies of the stage. Channel creative energies through weekly experiences that help build self-awareness and confidence. Imaginations run wild and children benefit from the structured learning environment that puts their creative thoughts first! The Theatre Program offers the opportunity to study acting/improvisation concepts, musical theatre, theatre arts and design. Students will also have much stage time and learn the ins and outs of performing, including rehearsal readiness, theatre etiquette, and audition preparedness.
• Kids Musical Theatre - age 7-12 Saturdays 10am to 11am - Danielson Studio

•Theatre Arts 3/4 - age 10-13 Mondays 5:00-6:00 - - Putnam Studio
Theatre Arts 3 explores the world of Theatre Making and Design. Students explore all that happens behind the curtain from Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Prop Design and Construction, Stage Make-up, Producing, Set Design, and Lighting and Sound Design. Students also engage with Puppetry, Mask-Making and Storytelling.
• Musical Theatre 3/4 - age 10-13 Thursdays 5:00-6:00 - Putnam Studio
SING! DANCE! ACT! SHINE! Students will immerse into the world of BROADWAY where they will study various Broadway shows and learn music and choreography from select titles. Musical Theatre students will have a blast as they spend their time learning new music and dance, stage presence, performance skills and foundational performance theories. Musical Theatre class is an exploration of American Musical Theatre. Students will prepare and present as soloists as well as members of small groups and larger ensembles. Students will also gain tools for audition preparation.
•Acting 3/4 - age 10-13 Thursdays 6:00-7:00 - - Putnam Studio
Students intensely explore acting methods, stage presence, character development, improvisation, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment. Students build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations. Junior level theatre classes allow students to holistically engage the mind and body, while making connections to theory and improvisational impulse.
•Playwriting 3/4 - age 10-13 Thursdays 7:00-8:00 - Putnam Studio
Students work with the foundations of creative writing and play structure. Members of the class devise work in a collaborative setting / share / gain feedback and inspiration / workshop ideas and concepts / plays will be performed at a later date by students and community of The Complex
TEEN THEATRE PROGRAM - age 13+ (or by invitation)
Teen Theatre classes are intensive and inspiring. Students deeply engage with technical approaches, historical context, various methods, and prominent artists. The Teen Program is comprehensive in its curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore theatre as actor, director, designer, producer, writer, and technician.
•Teen Theatre Arts 5 - age 13+ Mondays 4:00-6:00pm - Putnam Studio
Teen Theatre Arts examines the world of Theatre Making and Design. Students explore all that happens behind the curtain from Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Stage Make-up, Producing, Set Design, and Lighting and Sound Design. Students also engage with Puppetry, Mask-Making and Storytelling. Theatre Arts students are part of the production team for all Complex Performances, making props, costumes, and sets.
• Teen Musical Theatre - age 13+
Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm - Putnam Studio and/or Saturdays 11:00-12:00 - Danielson Studio

• Teen Acting - age 13+ Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm - Putnam Studio
Students explore acting methods, stage presence, character development, improvisation, directing, and stage management. Students build self-confidence, awareness and personal voice through a series of exercises, explorations, and collaborations. Students will unpack their own philosophies of self to allow a strong personal foundation to work from.
• Conservatory Composition - age 12-19 - Putnam Studio
(must be enrolled in Intermediate Teen / The Complex Dance Company)
In this class, students learn the methods and concepts of choreography and divised theatre. Students develop their own unique approach to movement and theatre making and explore various choreographers, playwrights, theatre companies, and performance artists. The class will explore the elements of conceptual development and critique through various mediums and approaches of making.
